Institut des Amériques call for applications: 2026-2029 doctoral contracts

In order to support international cooperation initiatives in the academic and scientific fields, doctoral contracts in the humanities and social sciences are awarded each year by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research within the framework of its partnership with the Institut des Amériques (IdA).

These Institut des Amériques doctoral contracts aim to develop and stimulate scientific cooperation between French and American universities within the IdA's 12 international centers, as well as to promote French research on the Americas in the Americas.

Four doctoral contracts are available:

  • Andean Center Lima (Institut français d’études andines, IFEA) Lima, Peru
  • Canada Center (University of Montreal, UdeM) Montreal, Canada
  • Caribbean Center (FUNGLODE and FLACSO-Dominican Republic) Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
  • Mexico Center (Centre d’études mexicaines et centre-américaines, CEMCA) Mexico City, Mexico

The application period is open until March 1, 2026.

Information.png This call for applications is only open to students who are not yet enrolled in a doctoral program and who will enroll in one of the IdA member institutions. Preselected applicants must have defended their Master's thesis by July 2026 at the latest.
