PhD funding

Dernière mise à jour :

This page introduces the main targeted calls for applications issued by the University of Bordeaux to potential thesis supervisors.

There are many different sources of funding for a PhD. In some cases, candidates apply for funding on their own and then apply for admission to the doctoral school in charge of their chosen speciality. On the other hand, in some cases, thesis supervisors are responsible for applying for funding for a research topic, selecting a candidate and then arranging their admission to the doctoral school.

  • View the doctoral schools' admissions calendars and conditions according to the source of funding (the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR), the CIFRE program, research contracts, etc.)
  • Each year, the Graduate Research School also organises calls for applications open to all doctoral schools: see below for details on how to apply for funding

The University of Bordeaux and the China Scholarship Council have concluded a cooperation agreement to provide funding for Chinese students who wish to pursue a PhD at the University of Bordeaux.

Each year, the Graduate Research School oversees a call for applications.

Projects can be submitted between September and October each year.

The disability PhD program call for applications

Within the framework of its policy to support people with disabilities, the Graduate Research School takes part each year in the Ministry's campaign to award "disability" PhD grants.

This call for applications aims to support the national and internal campaign to award "disability" PhD grants. It is aimed at students with disabilities wishing to pursue a PhD in a research unit at the University of Bordeaux.
