PhD and innovation day at the Innovation Week

Within the framework of the Innovation Week, which will take place at the University of Bordeaux from November 24 to 28, PhD students are invited to participate in the "PhD and innovation" day.

The aim of this day is to learn more about support measures to innovation, open up discussion on the obstacles and opportunities encountered during doctoral studies, and highlight inspiring partnerships between PhD students and thesis supervisors.

If you're a PhD student and have questions about innovation, commercialization, or entrepreneurship, come and hear from those who have taken the plunge, learn about the support available at each stage, and find out how to build fruitful collaborations!

Registration (mandatory) before November 25

Why participate?

  • To discover concrete support measures to innovation and entrepreneurship (Mature your PhD+, SATT, Inria Startup Studio, UBee Lab, etc.)
  • To hear feedback from doctors who have become innovators or entrepreneurs
  • To understand the role of support providers and how to build a relationship of trust around innovative projects
  • To ask your questions, share your ideas, and create new connections

Program

  • 09:30 a.m.: Welcome reception
  • 09:55 a.m.: Opening
    Introduction by Etienne Duguet, Vice-President for innovation
  • 10:05 a.m.: Round table: the dilemmas of PhD students to innovate
    • What questions did you have before embarking on innovation or entrepreneurship? What obstacles did you encounter (lack of time, intellectual property management, etc.)? What types of support did you receive? And what solutions were put in place to overcome these difficulties?

  • 11:05 a.m.: Round table: Pairs - PhD student and thesis supervisor
    • Trust and collaboration to encourage innovation potential. Is it essential to have a thesis supervisor who is pro-commercialization?
